Integrity
posted 2001 by Hershey Bell
At our workplace, someone has in their email tagline the quote, "Integrity cannot be displayed, it is shown." Besides making not much sense, has anyone ever heard this quote or know to whom it is attributed, or, if it is being misquoted, what the actual quote is?

Maybe it is all about the somewhat subtle difference between the two verbs, quite distantly synonymous: "to display" and "to show". Perhaps the former implies something superficial and thus insincere as opposed to the latter which might be read or interpreted as 'showing by (actual) actions'. (?)

It can't be displayed like a painting but you can show it in the way you live, act etc. Makes sense to me.
